AvantiGas ON has announced its decision to exit the UK natural gas market. As a result, they have been looking for another supplier to take over their current customer portfolio. They have now signed a deal with British Gas to take over supplying their UK natural gas customers.
The supplier has expressed their confidence in British Gas to take over with their current customers. British Gas, owned by Centrica, is well placed in the UK market and will bring continued security of supply.
What does this mean for my gas contract?
If you are currently on a contract with AvantiGas then don’t worry, you can be assured that you will continue to receive gas and supply will not be interrupted in any way. Customer contracts will also remain the same once migrated to British Gas. This means that any agreed fixed prices plus terms and conditions will remain the same until your contract ends.
AvantiGas have also ensured that they will continue to bill and support customers until they are fully moved over to BG. Any customer credit balances will also be protected.
What happens next for customers?
We understand that AvantiGas customers are going to be apprehensive about what this transition period could look like. However, you do not have to worry about the takeover as this will be taken care of by the suppliers.
Customers will start to be migrated from November 2022; the suppliers expect all customers to have transferred by January 2023. Once your account has been moved over to British Gas you will receive a letter to update you. AvantiGas will then send you a final bill. Any remaining credit or debit balances will be transferred to the new British Gas account.
